Singaland

I found this pic on Nachos blog and I love it.

It says a lot about how I feel for the city right now...

At Work

So, this is where I spend most of my day...
Parkview Square. On the 23rd floor, which is almost the top floor. Cool!!!

We even have a DHL balloon right next to it. So, that is how we make sure EVERYONE knows DHL. And it's also fun to take a ride and enjoy the view. Come here and try.

And finally, this is my cubicle... my desk... my space. The picture has been taken a while ago, so now it actually looks a little more 'homey' there, but not much really. I think I should do something about that, now that I think about it.

Weekend

Days, even weeks are flying...

Already Saturday again and I am chilling in my living room, thinking about my everyday experiences.

- I am amazed how you can get a very good and proper meal here for S$3.- (which would be CHF 2.40)

- I love this city already: busy, but not too busy. Convenient, but still challenging at times. Big, but not too big. Given the time, there would be so many things to discover. Well, I'll stick around for a while, so...

- I consider myself funny. I really like to laugh... right?! But recently I have most definitely found out just how different certain aspects of a sense of humour can be. Everybody is laughing about a joke, except for me. And it is not because I didn't understand what they were talking about... well, fortunately, in many of these situations, there are other fellow foreigners equally puzzled. :)

- I had a two day company and industry induction this last Tue and Wed. Quite interesting it was... my brain becomes ever more yellow every day.

- So many times I feel like calling my friends from back home. But somehow... that is not so easy anymore. I should write an email. I will do that tomorrow.

- My first visit from Switzerland will be coming in Aug 19th. Looking fwd to meet Döms and Niceli. :)

- I am very disappointed: my planned business trip to Tokyo was cancelled. :( Well, I will have to go there at some other point, then. :-S

- Dhruv, you should come visit soon. So should you, Rob.

OK, I shall deliver pictures from work and home very soon. Promise.

Na Jaane Kyoon

I mean, if you think about it... then it could appear most obvious.

But then again...

Let me share this:
Ever since I came here, I have been surrounded with Indians. Everywhere I went, for whatever I did, I had Indians with me. OK, there are way more than 1 billion of them outthere, so chances are good you meet Indians quite often. Here even more when a good portion of the Singaporean population is either of Indian origin or still Indian. :)

Well, anyway, this is not to complain about it!!

Rather I wanted to tell everyone else not to be scared when you talk to me next time. I might sound just a little Indian, but never mind. And I really enjoy hanging out with all of them, for several reasons, which I am not going to elaborate on here and now. hehe

And tomorrow will be Indian lunch in Little India (a veery Indian part of the city :) ), which will certainly be very amusing and the food will be awesome. I am sure. Looking forward to that one.

Well, I should start reading this book I got before I left (thanks Natasha, Monica, Vic, Sarah, Nicole) :
'Being Indian' by Pavan K. Varma.

2 weeks

Incredible...

2 weeks ago, I was walking out of that Airport and I thought... oh my god, I am actually here.
13 days ago, I thought, Oh my god, in this cool building I am going to be working in.
12 days ago, I couldn't believe how hot it was outside and how chilly inside.
11 days ago, I was singing the Canadian National anthem and I noticed how much I suck in karaoke.
10 days ago, I was chilling. Was I?
9 days ago, I thought, it's monday morning again. :)
8 days ago, I went out to New Asia Bar, one of the coolest bars ever (!), but a beer costs around CHF 15.- (US$ 13.-)
7 days ago, I my honeymoon trip with DHL started to come to an end.
6 days ago, I liked your smile.
5 days ago, the mexicans really wanted to go partying, but I had to go home and get some sleep. Well, there was a girls party at my place.
4 days ago, Ministry of Sound. And...
3 days ago, sleepy sunday and wireless internet. And Superman, he returned. Or was it the other sunday? :)
2 days ago, monday morning again, already.
yesterday, I knew I was gonna love my job. And I found an answer.
Today... is just awesome. And I am really taking off!!!!

Do you think I am excited?

Coldplay, dude!!

Let me tell you this...

COLDPLAY was AWESOME!!!!

Here are some pictures..

New week

Wow, what a weekend.

On friday after work, we went for dinner and afterwards the idea was to spend some quality time at this Egyptian place close to office.

Well, it was a great evening, cos afterwards Pani (my lovely flat mate) had organised a girls night at our place. And since I just happen to live in the same flat, I ended up being the only guy at the girls night. Oh my god. ;)

On saturday, my main achievement was to set up wireless internet at home, so now I can also check my emails and stuff at home.

In the evening, Oscar (Mexican trainee at DHL SG) had organised a great Birthday- housewarming party and afterwards we went to MoS (Ministry of Sound) for a great party. As an obvious consequence, Sunday was a sleepy day. Very sleepy indeed.

And of course, in the evening, or rather in the middle of the night, a few of us were watching the World Cup final at Andi's place.

I am quite happy that Italy won. And I am incredibly disappointed in the performance of Zizou, mais voila!

Oh, and that is my brother... Very nice guy. :)

P.S. I got tickets for Coldplay tonight. Can't wait!! More soon.

Shweta

Hey Shwets!

This is to say thank you!!

For everyone out there, you have to know one thing:
Shweta is a lovely Indian girl that I met 5 years ago back in Switzerland. Ever since we have been friends and now, since she also works for the yellow company here in SG, I have finally been able to see her again, after a long time.

She came to pick me up at the airport and offered me a place to stay for the first few days.
She made it easy for me to find my way into life out here. She knows how to make me smile, even though it is mostly at my very own costs. ;)

So Shweta, thanks for being who you are.

Und ä dicke Muntsch! :)

THE YELLOW CHAPTER HAS BEGUN

Finally, after a long period of not posting I can now get myself into the pleasures of telling about my time in beautiful Singapore...

But first things first:

After my last post on June 14... which is just too long ago already... many things have happened.

I have passed my four remaining exams which allows me now to officially turn into a University diploma holder.. what a cool feeling. After such a long time of hanging around at University, but still never really being a full-time student... hmmmmm I like it. :)

Switzerland has played awesome football, won the group in a convincing and utterly impressive way and was then kicked out by the Ukrainian team after a weak performance just a week ago. In the meantime Brazil has surprisingly lost against the French and other unexpected results seem to be an exciting part of this World Cup in Germany!

I have moved out of my flat, found a wonderful successor. Her name is Julia and I hope she will be happy in my old room, with my old fellow flatmates... well, I will miss my room at some point, I guess.

What else?

Well, I had to say goodbye to my family and all of my friends when I left for my one year internship with DHL Express Asia Pacific in Singapore... :(

This is for you outthere... (you know who you are):

MISS YA LOADS!!

And this now leads me back to the title of this posting...

A new chapter has begun.

A yellow chapter it is...

Already a week in Singapore and there is so many things to tell already. Each and every day had their amazing highlights and I am confident that life will just go on like this...

Therefore, come back here soon and read about my life in THE city in South East Asia.

Can't wait to tell you!!!

From Singapore with love
